Happy Results Night

The “IDOL GIVES BACK” episode was a huge success, garnering over 70 million votes which ensures at least $50 million dollars to be donated to Africa.

A lot of big stars have graced the show. Ellen DeGeneres hosted from the Walt Disney Concert Hall where Annie Lennox, Il Divo, Kelly Clarkson, Earth Wind and Fire, Rascal Flatts, and Josh Groban with the African Children’s Choir performed live.

Back in the main studio, the top 6 Idols performed the new inspiring song of Quincy Jones “Time to Care”, attempting to equal the impact of “We are the World” from 2 decades ago. It’s truly a great song, and let me commend the sound of Phil Stacy, he sounded really great in this song.

The Idols also sang the finale song written by U2’s Bono, “American Prayer”. But perhaps the most memorable performance was by Celine Dion and a hologram of Elvis Presley. Call me ignoramus, but I think it was good entertainment (although that production number was taped, not live), it was good enough for me who was just watching at home.

At the end of it all, I commend American Idol for coming up with a good show. A great show, that is. After all the riches they have garnered from America all these years, it rally is time to give something back. They have successfully congregated the big stars and managed to solicit millions of dollars for a very good cause. Ellen Degeneres has pledged $100,000 and she has challenged he rich friends to top that amount. With that alone, the show is surely heading to the right direction.

Kudos American Idol!

*And oh, by the way, NO ONE WAS ELIMINATED tonight. Everyone has to be happy. But expect for two Idols to be eliminated next week.
