Fantasia Barrino, our American Idol season 3, is now ready to explore new seas by going on to Broadway. She is currently in full preparation for her lastest challenging role yet, the main character “Celie” in the Broadway production of THE COLOR PURPLE. Fantasia will start playing as “Celie” beginning April 10^th this year

THE COLOR PURPLE is a musical that opened at the New York Broadway Theater on December 1, 2005. It is produced by Oprah Winfrey. The play had 11 nominations in 2006 including Best Musical, Best Original Score Written for the Theater, and Best Leading Actress in a Musical. LaChanze, the first actress who portrayed in the Broadway version as “Celie” won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. The story of THE COLOR PURPLE revolves around understanding the life of a typical African-American life during the early 20^th century.
