“Time To Care” by Quincy Jones

Quincy Jones, the legendary American conductor, record producer, musical arranger, simply overall music royalty, has decided to take part on the “Idol Gives Back” charity show by offering a song that can equal the effect of “We are The World” sang by a myriad of music industry superstars back in the 80’s.

This time, his new song is entitled “Time to Care” and amply performed by the Top 6 of this year’s American Idol. I love the lively beat and the very deep message that it brings. It’s time to care :-)

(Notice how Phil Stacey sounded so good…like a real pro…it was almost like listening to someone who’s been a favorite singer for many years)

IDOL GIVES BACK episode

The day has come, when America is pleaded to take part in the biggest charity event ever. This episode is the “IDOL GIVES BACK” episode, that’s why it’s extra special. Lots of corporate sponsors have pledged their assistance, and the show is hoping for more in order to be able to help the children of Africa and the hurricane victims of America. Now, more than ever, every vote counts. Every one has the power to change lives.

Tonight, the top 6 sang inspiring songs.

Chris Richardson sang Eric Clapton’s “Change the World”, again ala Justin Timberlake. Good rendition, I love the song.

Melinda Doolittle sand “There Will Come a Day” by Faith Hill. Simon complimented her saying that “It wasn’t a copycat performance… Vocal masterclass.” True, Melinda.

Blake Lewis sang “Imagine” by John Lennon. Once again, he’s out to capture votes with his killer matinee idol look and cute outfit. No vocal power displayed there, but the judges understood, the song was really sang the way it should. “It felt sincere. You sang it with sincerity”, said Simon.

Lakisha Jones sang “I Believe” by Fantasia. She was again a victim of comparison. Poor Kiki, she failed to blow the judges away inspite of her good performance.

Phil Stacey “The Change” by Garth Brooks. I can truly say that he does have good pipes. Strong vocals, in deed, and I’m glad that he’s stepping up in the game at this point. Paula said that this was his best performance. Again, his bald head is so distracting. He could’ve worn a hat, he sang a country song anyway. Nonetheless, if America will hear him the way I do, he will be safe.

Jordin Sparks sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. It’s a fact that she has a nice voice. But what annoys me is she always sings decade-old songs, to the point that it’s boring. But perhaps, that’s just me. Randy Jackson said it was the best vocals ever in 6 seasons (Whoa!!! Pretty heavy…I don’t think so. I think Kat McPhee is still better). Jordin was emotional. And then Simon said “I think you’re gonna have a hit record with that”. Way to go, Jordin.

American Idol Gives Back

FOX, AMERICAN IDOL and the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF is a charitable U.S. organization) have partnered for a remarkable television event – IDOL GIVES BACK – a 2-night special to help raise awareness and funds for children and young people in need in America and Africa.

“American Idol Gives Back” has been launched earlier this month, is responsible for holding two more special back-to-back broadcasts to be incorporated this season. Part of the proceeds of the votes that will be casted by the public on April 24th broadcast will be donated to the indigents of Africa. Big sponsors like Coca Cola and Ford have already made their donations, and other corporate companies are also called upon to make a donation.

The funds that will be raised will be announced on the results night the day after, with matching performances by various celebrities. Donations will go to Unicef to uplift the lives of children in Africa and combat malaria there. Slated to perform during the April 25 episode include one of the most popular celebrity benefactors in the world, none other than Bono himself. To provide more glitter to the show are Gwen Stefani, Pink, Josh Groban, and Annie Lennox, just to name a few.
